Senior Associate

Valerie is a senior associate in the firm’s Family & Private Clients practice group and Litigation & Disputes practice group.


She assists clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious matters, from family to civil and commercial disputes. Valerie has the proven ability to provide practical and sensible solutions to enable her clients to achieve the result that best suits their needs expeditiously and cost-effectively. 


Valerie has successfully led and assisted in mediations and settlement of matters pre-writ and during trial. Where an amicable settlement cannot be achieved, Valerie has experience acting for clients in the Court process where she is noted for being a sharp thinker and effective advocate. 



Some of the matters Valerie has been involved in include the following: 


  • WBR v WBS [2022] SGFC 28, representing the husband at an ancillary matters hearing and successfully resisting the wife’s arguments for an averse inference to be drawn against the husband. Valerie was lead counsel.    

  • Rasalingam Letchumee v The Estate of the late Jaganathan Rajendaran, deceased and another [2022] 3 SLR 1099, representing a sole beneficiary in successfully resisting a claim made by the deceased’s mother that she was entitled to the whole of the deceased’s estate. The High Court dismissed the deceased’s mother’s claim entirely.  

  • ST Paper Resources Pte Ltd v Yi Qi Pin Lao Sichuan Restaurant Pte. Ltd. and another [2021] SGDC 83, successfully obtaining an Unless Order against a defendant after the defendant failed to comply with the Court’s directions to exchange affidavits of evidence in chief.  

  • Acting as lead counsel for the Respondent Husband in resisting the Claimant Wife’s application for a Personal Protection Order. The Court dismissed the Claimant Wife’s application entirely. 

  • Advising on complex high-net worth cases involving division of assets, maintenance, and child-related disputes.  

  • Advising on complex estate matters involving cross-border, trusts and equity disputes. 

Valerie is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.
